HAIM – Falling (Duke Dumont Remix)

To Fortnum & Mason last night for the launch of their new jewellery room. This Piccadilly icon is simply THE most elegant department store in the world, and so it was only fitting that they house a room full London’s most elegant jewellery and iconic designers!
A study of white collars, pearl chokers and lace cuffs carried a beautiful severity in Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli’s collection for Valentino Autumn/Winter 2013. “We wanted to capture women in a private moment, In this show, the face is very important” Chiuri told Style.com . This delicatley detailed moment enwrapped in silent grace, gave the designs a restricted religious feel, clothes that reveal a moment of serenity in a chaotic world.
“The silhouette made the collection.” Cathryn Horn commented in The New York Times on the Miu Miu Fall 2013 show– a versatile and prim presentation with that signature cheeky Miu Miu edge- models swathed in velvet, stripy socks and the sweetest silk neck ties. What’s surprising is how tactile the imagery is, I wonder how much the prevelance of imagery for e-commerce will begin to affect designer’s choice in material and styling.
Miuccia told Style.com she wanted the collection to have the feel of something sport, industrial, contemporary and tough all adjectives I would not immediatly associate with Miu Miu as a brand- but that is of course what Miuccia does so well- taking bold risks to present something really new, fresh– not just the same formulaeic brand ID. Although she did manage to sneak in some polka dots and pink which she apparently gets somewhat instinctively drawn to over and over again…you know what Miuccia me too, me too.
